Before & Aftercare Guide
Thank you for choosing Kayla. Looking after your tattoo properly is just as important as the tattoo itself. Following these simple steps will help your tattoo heal beautifully and keep it looking its best.
Before Your Appointment
To help make your session as comfortable as possible:
• Eat a good meal before you arrive.
• Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated.
• Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the area being tattooed.
• Avoid alcohol and recreational drugs for at least 24 hours before your appointment.
• Avoid taking blood-thinning medication such as aspirin or ibuprofen unless prescribed by your doctor.
• Try to avoid arriving sunburnt or with damaged skin.
• If your session is expected to be a long one, it’s a good idea to bring a snack, a sugary drink, and something to keep you entertained, such as a book, downloaded movie, tablet, or headphones.
After Your Appointment
First 24 Hours
• Leave your wrap on for the amount of time advised by Kayla.
• Wash your hands before touching your tattoo.
• Gently wash the tattoo using lukewarm water and a fragrance-free soap.
• Air dry or pat dry with a paper towel, never rub.
During Healing
• Apply a thin layer of your recommended aftercare cream. (E45, Palmers Coco Butter)
• Keep the tattoo clean.
• Allow the skin to breathe.
• Expect some peeling, flaking and itching, this is completely normal.
Please Avoid
Direct sunlight for at least 4 weeks
Swimming, hot tubs and soaking the tattoo until fully healed
Excessive sweating or gym sessions for approximately 10 days
Scratching, picking or peeling any scabs
Tight clothing rubbing against the tattoo
Healing Timeline

Days 4–14
Peeling and itching are completely normal. Continue washing and moisturising.
Weeks 2–4
Your tattoo will begin to settle and look more vibrant.
Up to 3 Months
Your skin continues healing beneath the surface, even if the tattoo looks healed.
If Something Doesn’t Look Right
A little redness, tenderness and peeling are all normal.
However, if you notice excessive swelling, increasing pain, unusual discharge or signs of infection, please contact a healthcare professional and report any concerns as soon as possible.
Take care of your tattoo, and it will look after you for years to come.
